HCT
HYGROSCOPIC
CYCLE
TECHNOLOGY
An evolution of the Rankine cycle that reduces installation and operating costs and drastically reduces environmental impact and water consumption.
IMATECH
is a spin-off of
IMASA
IMATECH is focused on research, development and implementation of technologies related to power generation. It has a team of professionals with extensive experience and a great vocation for innovation who contribute their knowledge to provide solutions to various problems in the energy and industrial sector.
The first technology developed is the Hygroscopic Cycle Technology (HCT).
The HCT, after going through the various stages of technological development, is now fully developed and available to society (TRL9 level COMMERCIAL APPLICATION), which demonstrates the maturity of the technology and its ability to function in different operating conditions. IMATECH is currently studying new applications of the technology for use in different industrial processes.
IMASA Ingeniería y Proyectos, S.A. is an industrial engineering and construction company specialized in the design and execution of turnkey projects for industrial plants and renewable and conventional energy generation plants, as well as in the provision of specialized industrial assembly and maintenance services and in the manufacture of capital goods for these industries.
IMATECH participates in the project
COLHIBRI
For research on new technologies for clean cogeneration using green H2 from biogas.
100% SAVINGS IN COOLING WATER CONSUMPTION
It is estimated that about 53 billion cubic meters of freshwater are used for thermoelectric production worldwide.
EMISSIONS REDUCTION
Reduction of CO2 and other gases (NOx, SOx…) per kWh produced.
REDUCTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
By minimizing the visual impact on the natural environment by avoiding large water vapor plumes (plumes) and large structures such as ACCs.
ECOSYSTEM PROTECTION
This dry technology avoids effluents, protecting the environment, flora and fauna as well as eliminating the emission of microorganisms and bacteria such as legionella.
FREEDOM OF LOCATION
It allows the location of generation plants based on thermodynamic cycles, in areas of H2O scarcity or where a low environmental impact may be required.

HOW IT WORKS
INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY
It is a thermodynamic cycle that utilizes a steam absorber where the hygroscopic where the hygroscopic compounds are put in direct contact with the steam streams.
The physical and chemical principles of absorption machines evolve the Rankine cycle Rankine cycle by providing higher electrical efficiency, improved cooling conditions, elimination or significant reduction of cooling water, and reduction of O&M and investment costs. O&M and investment costs.
HCT APPLICATIONS
IN GENERATION
ELECTRICAL
The Hygroscopic Cycle can be applied to any power system using a Rankine or steam cycle.
We can implement it in new or existing plants.
HCT APPLICATIONS
IN PROCESS
INDUSTRIALS
Produces the improvement of industrial processes and helps their sustainability.
Paper, ceramics, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, food, iron and steel, chemical, etc… sectors.

COMPATIBILITY, RELIABILITY AND WARRANTY
It can be commercially applied today to power plants using a Rankine cycle for any power output.
Most of the equipment and materials are the same as in a Rankine cycle (turbine, boiler, degasser, pumps, etc.).
Possibility of implementation in new plants or power plants or improving existing ones.
All equipment and materials are commercially available and 100% guaranteed by the different manufacturers.
Research and development as well as marketing and implementation are carried out in-house.
