Biomass Plant – 12.5 MWe

OWNER:

Oleícola el Tejar Nuestra Señora de Araceli.

LOCATION:

Palenciana, Córdoba, Spain.

In the summer of 2017, the first reference of this technology was implemented in Cordoba. Approximately 18,000 hours of successful, trouble-free operation at Cooperativa Oleícola El Tejar.

The technology was incorporated into Vetejar’s 12.5 MWe biomass plant.
which has been in operation since 1996. This plant is located in the town of Palenciana (Córdoba), and is owned by Oleícola El Tejar.

The benefits provided by the technology allowed the investment to be amortized in less than 1 year.

The incorporation of technology in this facility has allowed for the following:

Increase the outlet cooling temperature of the air coolers by 13 ºC for the same condensing pressures.

Cancel cooling water consumption in a water-scarce area (229,200 m3/year).

Decrease the plant’s self-consumption (1,520 MWh/year).

Increase plant availability, working at lower average annual condensation pressures, thereby generating an additional 900 MWh/year.

Ultimately, to increase the net electrical performance of the plant by eliminating all cooling water consumption, as well as to reduce the associated O&M costs.
