GAS RECOVERY COGENERATION – 4.5 MWe

OWNER:

INDUSTRIES DOY.

Client:

EDP

LOCATION:

Trubia, Principality of Asturias, Spain.

First plant in the world designed as a Hygroscopic Cycle.
The technology was incorporated into the coke production plant that Industrias Doy has in the town of Trubia.

The project presented several environmental challenges as it was in the middle of a population while at the same time the investment had to pay off quickly.

The HCT technology was chosen by the electric utility EDP as the best solution compared to the Rankine Cycle with traditional refrigeration systems.

Our cycle allowed us to give approx. 1 MW more power than the Rankine cycle for the same gas flow, thus favoring the economic viability of the project.

By eliminating the use of cooling water, discharges to the Trubia River disappear, and the acoustic and visual impacts of other solutions are reduced as the steam plumes disappear, thus achieving a sustainable and environmentally friendly project.
